This retreat is not for the feint hearted and will be transformational for women who are ready to step over the threshold of separation into oneness. What do I mean by that? There is no judgment in that statement whatsoever. We are all at different chapters in our stories and at various stages of either letting go of fear or acknowledging it so that we can let it go.

Often we perceive our “happy place”, our sense of coming home, of the greatest ease and comfort, as the only place we need to attain in order to heal; our space, silence, privacy, surrounded only by positive energy, crystals and whale song, for example.

The Wilder Woman takes us beyond that. Beyond the need for solace from difficult feelings and a perceived desired outcome. We trust the mystery and walk through the fire.

In what form does the fire take?

We are very close to nature and in very close proximity of one another. Whatever that brings, rain, tears, fears and truth.

Wild swimming

We get in the cold water in its most natural state. In the form of green river, fall or lake. Keeping ourselves in concrete boxes at a constant temperature of around18 degrees decreases our natural capacity for homeostasis. Homeostasis is any self-regulating process by which we tend to maintain stability while adjusting to conditions that are best for our survival. As we wrap ourselves in unfluctuating states of comfort, we lose the ability to regulate our natural body temperatures, our immunity,  feelings of wellbeing and our emotions. This make us vulnerable and afraid of change; something that is inevitable in all our lives.

Equine Therapy

Horses act as a mirror. They mimic our heart rate, our misgivings, our emotions and hormonal fluctuations. To sit in pure connection with a horse for a couple of hours requires self-awareness. Naked self-awareness. If you are ready to let go of the stories, the perceived conceptual roles that you play and the attachment to self-identification then the capacity for real awakening is limitless.

Sisterhood

Personally this was a difficult one for me. I deeply mistrusted women and my aloof reactions to feminine groups hid an underlying yearning to be accepted. I was hungry for a sister of my own and often appeared over zealous in my interactions or inauthentic. I wasn’t born like this. I had been affected and conditioned by rejection, chronic bullying form girls at school, the narrative of the toxic masculine (also internalised by women) about other women. The pan-generational perception and treatment of the feminine. Jealousy, comparison, fear, insecurity. Women have been subordinated for thousands of years in all corners of the globe and the prevailing methodology is to divide and rule.

Being in sister circles requires us to drop our misgivings of the other woman. To open ourselves up into allowing ourselves to be nurtured and cared for by a love that knows no agenda other than the pure and natural feminine urge to create and cultivate. As the judgments drop away, our hearts open and the capacity for bonding is deeply profound and fulfilling.

Sharing space

Being in close proximity and sharing sleeping space is something I would strongly encourage. Part of the magic of retreats as a whole is that it brings people together and you get to be around a variety of energies, world views and narratives. All this within the context of coming from the same feminine blueprint and collective consciousness.

Learning to share personal space is a huge step on the way to wellbeing, acceptance and joy within ourselves, within the world and for those around us. The “cult of the individual” that has been driving Western culture, in my judgment, is at the root of our emotional distress and discontent. Community and togetherness are key to happiness and feminine unity is key to strength.

The wilder Women leads you right to the centre of this warm light of union. Sharing space highlights our sharp corners and polishes our edges so that we become well adjusted to wellbeing, well-rounded and we walk through the world with grace and sovereignty.

Being within wilderness

We spend a lot of time outside in one of the most beautiful national parks in the world. We prepare ourselves for this so that we can get barefoot and wild and fully participate in this beautiful green and blue jewel of a planet. I have chosen one of the most stunning valleys with ancient woodland, pristine and raw rivers and plunge pools, surrounded by rolling mountains. We will spend as much time experiencing it in as many ways as we can. We will cook outside, forage, swim, sing, dance, walk, circle and meditate. The retreat centre is merely a place to get dry, warm and sleep. All the things that might seem tiny and insignifcant, cumbersome or irritating  will become great and immeasurable as you become more and more present to the miracle and abundance of the natural world around you.Where the rain becomes less a nuisance and more like poetry. Where we learn to be open to what can be beautiful about every given moment instead of what could possibly go wrong with it. This is the true spirit of the wild woman.
