The Course Outline

Meditate With Horses Basic Facilitator Training

Module 1: Introduction to Meditation with Horses 

Objective: Understand the concept of equine-assisted therapy and its benefits in combination with meditation. 

Topics: 

  • Introduction to equine-assisted therapy (EAT) and its history. 

  • Benefits of combining meditation with interaction with horses. 

  • Overview of the course structure and learning outcomes. 

 

Module 2: Theoretical Foundations 

Objective: Gain a foundational understanding of meditation techniques and their application in EAT. 

Topics

  • Basics of meditation: techniques and practices. 

  • Science behind meditation and its effects on mental health and well-being (evidence-based practice). 

  • The role of horses in therapeutic settings and their sensitivity to human emotions. 

 

Module 3: Practical Applications 

Objective: Develop practical skills in conducting meditation sessions with horses. 

Topics: 

  • Meditation techniques suitable for EAT. 

  • Hands-on exercises in leading meditation sessions with horses. 

  • Communication skills and understanding non-verbal cues from horses. 

 

Module 4: Ethics, Health, and Safety 

Objective: Ensure ethical practice and prioritise safety and welfare in EAT sessions. 

Topics: 

  • Ethical considerations in working with horses and clients (ethical practice). 

  • Health and safety protocols for clients and horses (health and safety). 

  • Animal welfare and responsible caregiving practices (risk assessment). 

 

Module 5: Business Development and Management 

Objective: Equip participants with skills to establish and manage a sustainable meditation with horses business. 

Topics: 

  • Creating a business plan for a meditation with horses venture. 

  • Marketing strategies and client acquisition techniques. 

  • Financial management and generating income while caring for horses. 

 

Module 6: Assessment and Certification 

Objective: Assess participants' understanding and readiness to conduct meditation with horses sessions independently. 

Topics: 

  • Practical assessment: Conducting a mock meditation session with horses. 

  • Written assessment: Business plan development and understanding of course material. 

  • Submit 3 different sets of write-ups analysing 3 different types and dynamics of practice groups. 

 

Module 7: Integration and Implementation 

Objective: Integrate knowledge and skills learned throughout the course into practical application. 

Topics: 

  • Reflection on personal growth and learning throughout the course. 

  • Implementation strategies for launching a meditation with horses business. 

  • Continued professional development and networking opportunities (CPD).

  2. Length: delivered over a 5 days period
